Black rhinos are very, very rare in Masai Mara! The last time I saw one was 4 years ago. We were lucky in this encounter because the rhino was relatively friendly. For over half an hour it makes its way through the tall grass without being disturbed by us. What was interesting was that it almost never stopped. My driver then explained to me that this was the normal behavior; they are actually constantly moving.
